A huge ice rink will be opening over the festive period in Coventry. Broadgate will be welcoming skaters to the attraction from Friday (November 25).

With the festive lights now switched on, the city centre will be the perfect setting for residents to savour the family-friendly atmosphere from November to January. As well as the ice rink, there will be a tempting combination of festive food stands and Christmas music, all designed to get you in the holiday mood.

Coventry City Council has partnered with Visit Coventry and Coventry Business Improvement District (BID) to bring this festive experience to the city centre.

Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, cabinet member for events, said: “As we look forward to the festive season, the opening of the city's ice rink in the heart of our city centre will bring more excitement and festive-filled fun to visitors and residents. This winter we are not only bringing the lovely ice rink to Broadgate but there's also a bigger winter wonderland offer for people to enjoy and make the most of their time in Coventry.

“We appreciate there are some challenging times for everyone at the moment, including the knock-on effect for local businesses and traders. However, many people do look forward with their friends, families and children to this magical time of year, so want to invite people to come and join us for this unique ice-skating experience, support our city centre and soak up the festive spirit in Coventry.”

Paul Jones, managing director at Visit Coventry, added: “Our Skate into Coventry ice rink is the centrepiece of Coventry's incredible Winter Wonderland offering this festive season. With such a variety of things to see and do being showcased by our venues and attractions across the city, Coventry is putting on a Christmas experience that rivals its neighbours near and far.

“Coventry can be rightly proud to be a festive city destination of choice - this year more than ever - and we're encouraging our local residents and visitors alike to come and enjoy everything we have to offer.”

It will be open seven days a week, operating throughout the day and into the evening and only closed on Christmas Day. Prices start from £6.50 per child with adult tickets from £7.50 for Go CV Plus cardholders.

Bookings for the ice rink are available from 6pm onwards this Friday (November 25). Click here to book tickets.
