Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is investigating



A former Nuneaton factory has been razed to the ground - despite no planning permission being given to demolish it. The home of the former P and C Coils Ltd in Anker Street/King Edward Road is now just an empty space.

This is despite the fact that Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has still yet to make a decision on an application which sought prior approval for demolition. The factory site has now been partly cleared, with just remnants of the factory still on the site.

The fact that the building has been pulled down has sparked debate in some sections of the community and CoventryLive contacted the borough council to find out what might happen next.

In a statement, a Town Hall spokesman said that it was too early to say if the local authority would take enforcement action.

“We are in contact with the developer’s agent, have pointed out the need for planning permission and we await a retrospective application," the spokesman said.

"We understand this is imminent and have been shown evidence that it is being prepared for submission. This will have to be decided in the ordinary way and it is too early to say what additional steps may be required, arising from any determination by the Planning Applications Committee.”
