As of 8.30pm: No sign of any closure or indeed of any workmen to initiate a closure!

Inbound lane is now closed, traffic (including buses) is being diverted up Albany Road.

Outbound lane is open as normal.

They'd finished by 2.00am. They weren't actually working on the lane which was closed, or even the one next to it, so why it was closed beats me?

They were shoveling tarmac, four square feet at a time, from a wheelbarrow. Had to be seen to be believed. At this rate they won't be finished till the middle of the next century.

The chip shop is closing too for (I think?) three days as they tell me it's not worth opening for the few customers that will be left.

The chip shop remained closed on Saturday even though the road reopened.

Many months ago the post box outside the former post office was taped-up and moved to the corner of Spon End and Spon Street.
The tape has still not been removed so no one in the area can use it! :fuming:

Following a flurry of activity this morning the contractors have disappeared leaving only a line of traffic cones as a sign they were ever here! :clown:
For some reason the outbound middle lane is still coned-off but there is at least two-lane working in both directions. :driver:

Despite reopening the two outermost inbound lanes for the first time in a year they haven't repaired the surface in any way and they are now in an even worse state than they were before they were closed-off!
