The scheme has been approved by Coventry City Council
A former block of student flats will be converted into supported housing for homeless people. Coventry City Council has approved plans for the property, located to the north of the city centre, to be used to house 24 people by 2025 by the latest as part of the application.
The building is a large three-storey red-brick student accommodation property. It's divided into 6 cluster flats, with 2 flats on each floor, and 4 en-suite bedrooms and a shared kitchen in each flat.
The site lies to the north of Coventry City Centre, in predominantly residential area. There are traditional semi-detached houses lying to the south-west on Radford Road and the rear garden area of The Old Stables, which fronts onto St. Nicholas Street immediately to the north.
A council officer's report states: "The proposal is not considered to impact the amenity of the neighbouring dwellings as there would be no more occupants than existing." There are five conditions for the application being approved, one of which is that the change of use must be in place by 2025.
