Man rushed to hospital after being stabbed at Greggs store in Coventry

A man, in his 20s, has been rushed to hospital after he was stabbed at a Greggs store in Coventry. It happened at around 8am this morning (August 2).

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before he was taken to hospital for further treatment. Eyewitnesses reported seeing 'bloodied clothes' strewn across the floor outside the popular bakery on Shelton Square.

Police had also cordoned off the area while they investigated. Staff have been seen cleaning up in the aftermath of the stabbing. It is understood that the store, located next to Warren James Jewellers and Betfred, will be closed until around 2pm.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a stabbing on Shelton Square at 8.11am and sent one ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene. On arrival we discovered one male patient who was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to hospital for further assessment.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We were called at 8am today (August 2) to reports that someone had been stabbed at a shop in Shelton Square, Coventry. The victim, a man in his 20s, has been treated for a minor injury and released from hospital.

“Officers have arrested a man, 32, on suspicion of assault and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting incident 757 of 02/08/22.”
