Householders in parts of Nuneaton have been told NOT to use water on what is the hottest day ever recorded in the UK. Residents in Thorntons Way received a note from Severn Trent to warn them about works in their area today (July 18).

On the note, it appealed to them not to use water between 10am and 5pm today. It explained that improvement works are being made to pipes in the area.

As part of this, it asks: "Please help us by not using water during this time."

The note has caused alarm, with one resident, who did not want to be named, saying: "On the hottest day ever Severn Trent turning water off grove farm area - are they insane?"

A spokesman for Severn Trent said: "As part of a scheme of essential works to replace old water pipes in the area, residents in Thorntons Way, Nuneaton, received communication last week to let them know about the upcoming works and help that is available to them if needed, such as bottled water.

"Given the extremely warm weather all effort have been made to avoid any loss of supply for the 33 properties - with bottled water being available to customers if needed. Any impact to water pressure and supply will be closely managed by the team on site, who will be happy to assist any customers if they needed further help or have any concerns.

"We'd like to thank our customers in the area for their understanding and patience as we look to complete this work as soon as possible."

ST don't give a flying :censored: for their customers. The problem is that they have a captive market that can't go anywhere else. And don't get me started about their CEO! :fuming: :fuming: :fuming:
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
