This is the face of a knife robber who spread terror across a part of Nuneaton during a three-day crime spree. Jack Bennett threatened shop and salon staff with a knife during three days of incidents back in May.

In the first, on May 23, the 23-year-old went into a shop in Galley Common, brandishing a knife before making off with the contents of the till. Two days later, he went into a store on Kingswood Road where he threatened the shopkeeper with a knife and demanded the contents of the till.

The shopkeeper refused and Bennett then fled the scene. Later the same day, Bennett, who is of no fixed abode, went into a salon with a knife and made off with the contents of the till.

Police swiftly arrested him on May 26 and subsequently charged him with:

  • two counts of robbery
  • one of attempt robbery
  • two counts of possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place and
  • one count of threatening a person with a blade/sharply pointed article in a public place
He admitted all of the offences and on Friday, July 8, he was jailed for six years and two months at Warwick Crown Court. Bennett also received three years for the robbery in Galley Common and three years for the robbery at the salon to run consecutively.

He also received 30 months for the attempt robbery store to run concurrently, two six month sentences for the possession of a blade, and ten months for threatening a person with a blade. They are all to run concurrently.
