Multiple police descended near school in Coventry after disturbance

Officers discovered a knife and two balaclavas on Green Lane, police have now revealed



Two teenage boys were arrested following a disturbance outside a secondary school in Coventry. Officers apprehended the suspects while on patrol on Green Lane at around 10.30am on Thursday (June 23), it has now emerged.

Locals report seeing a heavy police presence and teachers from Finham Park School gather nearby. Police recovered a knife and two balaclavas. Two boys from Coventry were arrested at the scene.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of causing harassment alarm and distress, wounding and robbery. Detectives also arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon, assault and robbery. Both have been bailed while police conduct further enquiries.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Two Coventry boys were arrested by officers on patrol in Green Lane at around 10.30am on Thursday 23 June. A knife and two balaclavas were also recovered.

“A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of causing harassment alarm and distress, wounding and robbery. A 17-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon, assault and robbery. Both have been bailed as our investigation continues.”

Finham Park School has been approached for comment.
