Officers enforced section 60 powers - to check anyone suspected to have weapons
Police are investigating a stabbing near The Glade pub in Willenhall. Police cars and an ambulance were spotted outside the pub yesterday (May 2).
Coventry police have revealed very few details about the incident however, on their page on Twitter, the team confirmed they had responded to a stabbing.
They said that 'thankfully' the victim, who has not been identified, did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
In the post, the team explained that, as a result of the incident a Section 60 order was put into place.
This was until 4am this morning (May 3) and gave officers the power to stop and search anyone they suspect to have a weapon.
"The Section 60 is in place in the Binley and Willenhall area following an earlier stabbing, which thankfully isn't believed to be life-threatening," the post said.
"Our priority is to protect YOU the public. If you have any information on gun and knife crime, call us on 101 to report."
The post goes on to explain that the Section 60 was in force across Willenhall and Binley.
"It gives us the power to stop and search people we suspect may be involved in violence involving weapons, without the need to have reasonable grounds," the post explains.
