Roadworks at one of the busiest junctions on Coventry Ring Road will go on until next year. The works at the Skydome roundabout have been causing chaos for drivers the last few weeks and things aren't set to change any time soon.

The busy junction is currently down from three lanes to just one. It comes as a series of air quality works are currently being carried out on Spon End and Butts Lane.

The works and lane disruptions will be in place until spring 2023, Coventry City Council has said. They added that the work must happen or they will be instructed by the government to introduce a charge zone.

A spokesman for the city council said: "Work at Junction 7 and Spon End will be underway, with lane closures, until spring next year. We have to do this work or we will be instructed by government to introduce a charge zone to help improve air quality.

"Once the work is complete there will be better provision for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. We are carefully monitoring traffic and during peak travel times, in the morning and evening, people should allow a little more time for their journey.

"But overall traffic is moving. We would like to thank everyone for their patience.”

The junction 7 exit sliproad, leading traffic on to the roundabout, is also down to one lane.
