He remains in a serious condition in hospital where he is being treated for the injury following what has been described as a fight outside an address on the street.

Police patrol cars stood on guard in the area yesterday and part of the street, close to the Saunders Club, was cordoned off with police tape.

A Warwickshire Police spokesman said that no arrests have been made but investigations are ongoing.

The spokesman was keen to stress that it is being treated as an isolated incident with no wider threat to the community.

"Officers were called shortly after 10.30pm on Saturday evening to reports of a number of people fighting outside an address on Saunders Avenue, Bedworth." the Warwickshire Police spokesman said.

Teens named and charged in connection with stabbing of boy in Bedworth

Two teens have been named and charged in connection with the stabbing of a boy in Bedworth. Warwickshire Police confirmed that two arrests were made over the past week.

It follows the incident where a 16-year-old, who has not been identified, was stabbed in the stomach during a brawl in Saunders Avenue on April 9. Officers arrested an 18-year-old on April 14 and then a 19-year-old on April 15.

As a result of the arrests, two teenagers have since been charged and both appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court on April 16 and were remanded in custody.

The two are:

  • Tyree Liang, 18, of Thorntons Way, Nuneaton. He has been charged with violent disorder and threaten with a bladed article.

  • Snowden Mayanika, 19, of Conifer Rise, Northampton. He was charged with GBH, violent disorder and threaten with a bladed article.
The Warwickshire Police spokesman said that while investigations remain ongoing, the victim is still in hospital. He was initially in a serious condition in hospital and, two weeks later, he remains being treated but is in a more stable condition.

Mugshots after Coventry teen seriously injured in machete attack outside social club

Three teens have been sentenced for their part a violent brawl which led to two stabbings outside a social club in Bedworth. The trio, one of which cannot be identified, appeared in court in connection with the incident near to the Saunders Club back in April.

A court heard how violence broke out in the car park of the club following a boxing tournament on April 9. It started when Tyree Lieng, 18, of Thorntons Way, Nuneaton, [pictured left] punched a 17-year-old from Coventry in the back of the head.

The brawl then continued with both of them producing machetes.

Snowden Mayanika, 19, of Conifer Rise, Northampton, [pictured right] then became involved, pulling out a knife and stabbing the 17-year-old boy - who cannot be named for legal reasons - in the stomach.

A security officer at the venue stepped in to break up the disorder and disarmed the 17-year-old. The boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his stomach, where he remained for several days. He has now made a full recovery.

Lieng suffered an injury to his hand in the incident.

Police immediately cordoned off the area and investigations into the violent incident got underway. Lieng and Mayanika were both identified by officers from CCTV and were arrested a few days later.

Further enquiries led to the 17-year-old being identified and arrested. All three were then charged in connection with the incident.

Lieng pleaded guilty to threatening with a knife and violent disorder, while Mayanika pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and possession of a knife.

The 17-year-old pleaded guilty to violent disorder and making threats with a knife.
'Could have been so much worse'

Lieng was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in a young offenders’ institute and Mayanika was sentenced to three years.

The 17-year-old boy from Coventry was given a 12-month youth referral order.
