George Victor Leonard Breakwell, 95, known as Len, died on Sunday - a week after his Ford Focus was in collision with a BMW in Bericote Lane, Blackdown, Leamington Spa.

His wife, Ellen Margaret Breakwell, 89, had been his passenger and died from her injuries on 7 September.

Their son John said they had been "a most loving couple, always together".

The 35-year-old man who was driving the BMW is in a serious but stable condition in hospital and has undergone extensive surgery on his legs, a spokeswoman for Warwickshire Police said.

Mrs Breakwell, who was known as Marge, and her husband lived in Yardley, Birmingham.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw the crash at 1230 BST on 5 September, or either vehicle immediately before it, to contact Pc Alan Hepbrun at Greys Mallory road traffic base.
