Lidl has confirmed that its new supermarket on Emscote Road, in Warwick, will open for the first time on Thursday, February 24.

The store will create around 40 new jobs and forms part of the company's £1.3bn expansion and regeneration plans across the UK.

Laid out across a 1,410 sqm sales area boasting a bakery and customer toilets, the shop will open 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am – 4pm on Sunday.

Iain Ross, Lidl GB’s regional head of property, said: "It is fantastic that we are able to open our doors and welcome everyone into our new store in Warwick.

"We have received overwhelming support from local residents, and we would like to thank everyone who has played a part in delivering this new store.

"We now look forward to serving our multi-award winning products to the community."

Less than a mile from its store in Myton Road, Leamington, the new Lidl will have "ample parking for cars and bicycles", the company said.

While no longer legally required, the retailer has urged customers to wear face coverings while shopping in its stores.

The company says its dedicated cleaning stations at entrances, hand sanitiser and protective screens at checkouts are to remain in place for the time being.
