A popular Nuneaton town centre restaurant is to close.

Anthony's Cafe and Bistro will serve its last meals to diners at the end of March.

But, even though the Queens Road-based eatery, which is famed for its afternoon teas and speciality taster menus, is to close - the business itself will continue.

In a post on the venue's page on Facebook, the firm explains that the restaurant side of the business, which is housed in the former Kim's Cafe building, is to close after a decade.

But the name will continue in catering for events, weddings and festivals.

The post, which has received hundreds of comments from well-wishers, says: "To all our customer past and present,

"We have some big news about the business that we wanted to share with you all.

"We have taken the decision to close the restaurant side of the business as of the end of March 2022. We have been open for over 10 years. It has been a rollercoaster of a ride with some ups and downs but we all are so glad we did it and did it to the Anthony’s Bistro Standard.

"It has been our pleasure to welcome you to our little Bistro. However, we feel that it is time for a change. With the increased interest in event and wedding catering, we are taking the leap into just outside catering.

"We have lots of opportunities coming up through weddings, events, festivals and corporate catering."

It goes on to add that the it is still open for bookings at the restaurant until the end of March.

"We hope to see you all again over the next few months at the restaurant," it concludes.

:rolling: :rolling: :rolling:

Not that popular then. Nobody ever closes a profitable business.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Many are closing after lockdown, staff shortages, rising costs and owners deciding to take early retirement.
