Staff at a Coventry car wash were left punch-drunk when famous former boxer Chris Eubank enlisted their services.

Owner Eugen Tudose, who lives in Foleshill, jumped into action when a client offered to pay him twice the going rate to get his car cleaned that same day.

After arriving to the hotel where Eubank had been staying, Tudose was confronted with a luxurious, if a little mucky, £370,000 Rolls Royce with the striking registration plate '1 KO'.

Eugen, 27, hadn't actually recognised Eubank, the former WBO middleweight and super-middleweight world champ, when the two met to discuss the work.

But, aware the flashy plate was out of the ordinary, Eugen went online and a quick Google search delivered knockout information about his latest customer.

"I was very surprised when I found out," Eugen admitted. "I didn't know too much about him as a boxer, but he obviously had a very nice car.

"From all the companies in the area he called mine which means I must have good reviews and providing a good quality service.

"I was very happy and hopefully I'll get further recommendations because of it."

Eugen says Eubank's motor, one of several in his high-end fleet, is the poshest he has polished since setting up his portable cleaning business - TDM Mobile Car Wash - in July last year.

It's thought Eubank, famed for his titanic 90s tussles with Nigel Benn, was in the area for a break combining business and pleasure.

And while Eugen was prepared to treat the sartorial 55-year-old like any other customer, specific ground rules were laid before the job went ahead on January 4.

"He opened the car and said he wanted the interior doing," explains Eugen, who moved to the UK from Romania six years ago.

"And he asked what products I used so I wouldn't scratch the car.

"I told him I cleaned all of my equipment before every job and he was happy with that.

"I think it's the most expensive car I've cleaned so I made sure I was extra careful!"

There are car-washers who specialise in Rolls-Royces, you'd think he'd have used one of those?

Also, plastic interior?
