ROBBERS stole cash and jewellery after locking staff in a room at a pawnbrokers in Rugby.

At least two men targeted Harvey & Thompson, in Church Street, just before 9am on Wednesday.

They fled in a grey Ford Transit van which was later found abandoned near garages in Parkfield Road, Newbold.

A grey Audi saloon may also have been involved.

Police said no weapons were used in the raid and no one was hurt.

A Warwickshire Police spokesman said: “We believe the Transit van was parked near the shop for several hours before the robbery occurred and are appealing for anyone who saw it or its occupants or a grey Audi parked in the area to please contact us as soon as possible.”

Insurers have since offered 30p for the return of the jewellery
