Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie have released a Christmas photograph of them at Chequers with their dog, Dilyn, and new baby Romy.

The Prime Minister was holding a series of video calls as his wife, Carrie, is seated beside him holding their two-week old daughter at Chequers. The Jack-Russel is lying blissfully asleep beside them on the sofa.

With a cinema lightbox bearing both their children’s names - Wilf and Romy, the couple were speaking to Dr Laura Mount, the Director of Central and West Warrington Prime Care Network, who is leading a vaccination team.

The couple then spoke to Tom Jones, from Hertfordshire, who attends the Royal Voluntary Service Rickmansworth lunch club and cares for his wife who has dementia.

The picture was taken on Thursday as Johnson, 57, and his wife, 33, laugh and joke during the video calls. A number of handmade Christmas cards are placed on the table behind them.

Romy Iris Charlotte Johnson was born on December 9 at University College London Hospital, the couple’s second baby after the birth in April last year of their son, Wilfred. Romy is the Prime Minister's seventh child.

Shortly after Romy’s birth, Mrs Johnson posted a photograph of the baby on Instagram, explaining how she was named after her aunt, Rosemary, while Iris was the Greek word for "rainbow" and Charlotte was picked in honour of Mr Johnson's late mother, Charlotte Johnson Wahl, who died earlier this year aged 79.

Johnson had earlier described his mother, a professional painter, as the "supreme authority" in his family.

The Prime Minister's wife had described her daughter as a "rainbow baby", a term used to describe a child born after a miscarriage.

Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
