Police have pleaded 'ring us not post on Facebook' after a spate of Nuneaton town centre business break-ins.

They have admitted there has been a rise of commercial burglaries within Nuneaton town centre over the last couple of weeks

But they have said that, in some instances, incidents have been shared on social media - rather than telling the police.

It has prompted them to appeal to people to report any concerns or incidents to them - so that they are aware and can investigate them fully.

It could help with an ongoing investigation to identify one specific suspect.

"The Nuneaton Town and Central Safer Neighbourhood Team are investigating the recent spate of burglaries and collating evidence in order to try and identify an offender which is progressing at pace," said a post on the Nuneaton and Bedworth Police page on Facebook.

"If any member of the public encounters or witnesses what they deem is a suspicious incident then please report it to the police direct in the first instance especially if it occurs during the early hours.

"There have been occasions in recent weeks whereby people have chosen to share concerns/incidents on social media forums rather than notify the police.

"Thank you all for assisting not only the police but your local community."

They have also issued some advice to business owners to help ensure they do not become the next victims.

Officers have asked please ensure all doors/windows/shutters are closed, locked and secured.

They have also appealed to them to make sure that CCTV is on and recording, and to make sure that any movements on alarms are acted on.

You're more likely to get a response by posting on F/B because plod seems to spend his time on there looking for you to use 'wrong' or 'naughty' expressions, rather than getting off his lard laden backside and getting out into the community to see what's really going on.

I'm afraid, people have lost faith in the police, and it's largely their own fault.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
