The Rialto Plaza says it has launched an internal investigation after a woman was spiked by injection and subsequently thrown out of the club on suspicion of being drunk.

The Rialto management says the Coventry club will work with the police to find the “scumbag” who carried out the spiking and take what it described as “the relevant actions” following an investigation into the way the woman was treated.

The incident happened at the Moseley Avenue venue last Friday night (November 26).

In a post on its Facebook page the Rialto said: “We have had the devastating news that one of our customers was spiked on Friday night by way of injection in the arm.

“Whoever the scumbag was that thinks this is acceptable should be locked up and the key thrown away.

“Thankfully the lady in question has recovered and no further harm came to her.”

Moving on to the woman’s treatment following the spiking incident the statement from the Coundon club added: “It was also pointed out that the door team on the evening didn’t provide the service and assistance we would expect from anyone representing the Rialto and instead the lady in question was removed as someone that was suspected of being overly drunk.

“It is true that we enforce safe drinking but we also demand that all of our staff are there to support anyone in need of assistance.

“It is because of these allegations of negligence that we will be launching a full internal investigation into these allegations of negligence and the relevant actions will be taken.”

The statement continued by expressing the club’s ‘devastation’ at what had happened and said the management would do everything it could to assist the police in investigating the spiking incident.

It said: “We pride ourselves on being a safe, friendly, fun venue for our customers to enjoy a night out and we are devastated that this has happened.

“In addition to a full internal investigation we will await contact from the police and we will be only to happy to help them with their investigations in way of providing full access to our CCTV system which covers every inch of the building in the hope that this scumbag can be brought to justice.”

Damage limitation exercise for abysmal behaviour.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
