Two men have broken into a Coventry supermarket and made off with stolen cash.

Police were called to the scene after a group of men forced entry into Evans Cash & Carry supermarket along Kingfield Road in Coventry on November 29 at around 8pm.

Shocking CCTV footage shows a car driving up to the store front before ramming into a metal roller shutter repeatedly, damaging the front of the property.

A man then jumps out of the vehicle and manages to crawl his way through the gaps of the shutter.

He then flicks a switch to roll up the shutter before scurrying across the store.

The man grabs a till before the driver of the car hurries over to help him carry the stolen item.

The two men are then seen running back to the car before fleeing the scene.

Sarah-Jane Evans, owner of Evans Cash & Carry, said she was devastated at the incident and praised police officers for quickly arriving at the scene.

She told Coventry Live: "It's horrible what had happened.

"We are a small, local, family-run business and we set up our business at the height of the pandemic.

"We are just coming up to our one-year anniversary after opening our business on December 15 last year.

"I was gutted more than anything.

"For people to take something from us and destroy that, that's not a nice feeling."

Coventry Live has contacted West Midlands Police for comment.
