A joint statement from the Earlsdon Councillors was published yesterday (October 15) letting the community know the latest in response to Conservative MP Sir David Amess's death.
The statement explained they would not be meeting with their constituents and local residents out of respect for the Southend West MP.
Councillor's Kindy Sandhu, Becky Gittins and Ant Tucker posted the statement on the Facebook group 'Earlsdon Local Message Board'.
It read: "We are deeply shocked and saddened by the murder of Sir David Amess at his constituency surgery earlier today. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family at this terrible time.
"Out of respect we have suspended our street surgeries and campaigning activities for the immediate future."

"We are deeply shocked and saddened by the murder of Sir David Amess at his constituency surgery earlier today. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family at this terrible time.
"This is the third time in the last eleven years that such an attack has occurred - and the second fatality.
"Out of respect we have suspended our street surgeries and campaigning activities for the immediate future.
"As your local representatives, we will always do our utmost to meet and talk through the issues that matter most to you. Everyone deserves to be safe at work - and that includes those who represent us in our democracy."
