It happened on Bishop Street in the city centre
Police are investigating after a boy, 16, was shot in the early hours of this morning in the city centre.
The teenager is in hospital after being injured on Bishop Street just after 1am today (October 16).
CoventryLive understand the boy's condition is not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Police cordoned off the area at the time and a forensic examination of the scene has now taken place.
West Midlands Police are now appealing for anyone who might have seen what happened and are asking anyone in the area with CCTV or a dashcam, to check their footage.
Inspector Becky Farr, of Coventry police, said: “We’ve launched a full investigation into what happened and won’t tolerate this kind of violence on our streets.
“Detectives are working tirelessly to establish exactly what happened and who is responsible.
“We’ve got extra officers patrolling the city centre throughout the weekend to offer reassurance.”
