Two men fell from a motorbike in a hit-and-run in Coventry - and police found one of them had also been shot.

The two men had come off the motorbike by the junction of Torrington Avenue and Nickson Road, in Tile Hill, on Monday night at around 8.30pm after a collision involving a white Transit van.

The younger of the men, aged 20, had been shot in the chest and West Midlands Police believe that injury happened earlier in the evening in nearby Jardine Crescent.

The second man, aged 25, had suffered a shoulder injury after falling from the motorcycle and was also taken to hospital. He has since been discharged.

Police officers remain in the Tile Hill area today (Tuesday) and have been seen knocking on doors and talking to residents.

Detective Sergeant Kelly Mills, from West Midlands Police CID, said they are treating the hit-and-run and shooting as a "targeted attack".

"Although the motive is unclear, we believe that this was a targeted attack," she said.

"We are appealing for anyone with dash-cam footage or information about both these incidents to get in touch.

“Extra officers will be in the area over the coming days to reassure local people as our investigation continues."
