The robbery happened at the S&M Supermarket in Coundon
A man from Coventry has appeared in court following what police described as “a violent robbery” at a grocery store in Coventry.
A shop worker was assaulted during the robbery at S&M Supermarket in Southbank Road, Coundon.
It happened at around 8.50am on Tuesday June 8.
Money was stolen from the till along with cigarettes and alcohol.
Michael Hennessy, of St Nicholas Street, Radford, was arrested on Tuesday (June 15), a week after the incident.
The 37-year-old has now been charged with robbery and appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court yesterday (Thursday, June 17).
He was remanded in custody to appear at Warwick Crown Court on July 15.
