Residents have branded long grass at a graveyard "disrespectful" as they are left unable to visit memorials to loved ones
Grass at Saint Thomas’ Church, on Tamworth Road, in Keresley, Coventry, has been left as high as the graves themselves, with many hidden and inaccessible.
Vicar Mark Norris said the church had received a number of complaints but grass cutting had been Coventry City Council's responsibility since 2003.
He said budget cuts meant the grass was only mowed once every two months and raised concerns about visitors' safety.
“It is quite an old churchyard and a lot of the stones are hidden in the grass now, and for a lot of older people it is just not accessible," he said.
Coventry City Council is yet to comment. However, local councillor Jaswant Singh Birdi said there was no reason the grass could not be maintained.
