Police arrested a man on suspicion of drink driving after a car crashed into parked vehicles in Coventry.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning in Holbrooks.

Police, the ambulance service and fire crews were all called to the scene following the collision which happened shortly before 2am.

Watch Commander Louie Longhi from Foleshill Fire Station said: "We went out to a road traffic collision on Roland Avenue around 2am.

"A car had been driven into parked cars on the street, though luckily no one was seriously injured."

West Midlands Police confirmed that a man had been arrested on suspicion of drink driving before being taken to hospital but were not able to provide further details.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by the police at 1.58am on Saturday to reports of an RTC.

"An ambulance and paramedic officer attended. The driver of a car, a man, was assessed and conveyed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further care."
