Robbers stabbed a man in a cannabis factory raid in Coventry.

The victim suffered stab wounds to his upper arm but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Attackers armed with what is believed to be a machete are understood to have stabbed the man as they tried to raid a cannabis factory in Berkswell Road late last night (April 9).

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said they were called to the scene by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

"We were called by paramedics to Alder Road in Coventry just before midnight last night to reports that a man had been injured," the spokesperson said.

"The victim had suffered stab wounds to his upper arm, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

"Enquiries led officers to neighbouring Berkswell Road, where a cannabis factory was discovered.

"It is believed the property had been targeted by thieves wanting to steal cannabis, and the victim was injured during that robbery."

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.

The West Midlands Police spokesperson added that officers have been patrolling the area today to help provide reassurance for residents.

In the meantime, investigations are ongoing and officers want any witnesses or those with any information to come forward.

Anyone who can help the investigation should call West Midlands Police on 101 quoting log 4704 of 9 April.

Details can also be passed on to officers via the independent charity Crimestoppers, which is free to call from a landline and confidential, on 0800 555 111.
