New apartments have been proposed on the site of a former Coventry pub.

An application has been lodged for a four-storey building with 16 apartments on the corner of Jobs Lane and Jardine Crescent in Tile Hill.

The Woodsman Pub previously occupied the site before it burned down and was closed in 2002, with the site remaining vacant after it was demolished.

Applicant Comitto Ltd has submitted a bid to build two-bed apartments.

In planning statements submitted to Coventry City Council the applicant’s agent said: “Our client proposes to provide much needed residential accommodation.

“The current market need is for two-bedroom apartments in a convenient location for access to local amenities.”

All apartments would have a lounge/kitchen area, separate bathroom, study/storage room, and a hallway.

Details submitted also state the new building will contain a communal lobby serving all 16 apartments, with a stairwell and a concierge facility.

A car park with 28 spaces and three motorcycle bays will also be provided.

Planning statements add: “It is within easy walking distance of the shops and the services within the town centre, and bus routes.

“The development offers two-bedroomed accommodation within an area characterised by three-bed family homes further enhancing the local dwelling mix.”

A full planning application was validated this month, with a consultation running until May 6 and a decision expected to be made in July.
