Residents on Grayswood Avenue woke to find cars damaged

Residents in a Coventry street have reported cases of vandalism to police after a series of cars were scratched earlier this week.

The spree occurred on Grayswood Avenue at some point on the night of March 2. Police have been informed and they are asking people with information to come forward.

One resident whose car was targeted said it appeared as though the vandal has damaged only the higher value vehicles on the road.

A post appeared on Facebook asking for help finding the culprits through CCTV footage.

The post read: "Multiple cars have been maliciously keyed/scratched on Grayswood Avenue last night/early this morning. We are not entirely sure of the exact times, however there is a good possibility that someone has picked this up on their CCTV.

"If anyone knows anything please let me know. If you're in this area can you also check your CCTV to see if anything was picked up? Very sad times."

Resident Jack Daniel, whose car was one of the ones targeted, told CoventryLive those responsible seemed to be targeting the more expensive cars.

"This attack was completely unprovoked," he said. "What was strange is the person only targeted the high value motors, and walked by loads of other lower pricers.

"My own vehicle got done but mine wasn't the worst. A Range and Tesla both had some bad damage.

"It's been reported to the police by multiple people but it looks like the case may be closing already as there wasn't enough evidence i.e CCTV footage - which is slightly frustrating."

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "We received four reports of cars being found with scratch mark damage in Grayswood Avenue, Earlsdon, yesterday morning (2 March).

"Anyone with information can contact us via Live Chat, or by calling 101. Quote 20CV/59553L/21."
