Rugby boys arrested for gun possession after man taken to hospital

The incident happened in Rugby on Saturday

Two boys were arrested over an alleged firearms offence which saw a man taken to hospital yesterday.

The teens are currently being held on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life following an incident in Rugby.

Warwickshire Police were called to Grosvenor Road and Boughton Road at around 5pm. A man in his 20s taken to hospital with injuries thought not to be life threatening.

Police did not make the nature of his injuries clear however the two boys, aged 16 and 17, were subsequently arrested for the alleged firearms offence..

A statement from Warwickshire Police just before 11pm yesterday read: "Officers are currently in attendance on Grosvenor Road and Boughton Road, Rugby, following an incident at around 5pm this evening.

"A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life."

Det Insp Martyn Kendall said: “This is currently being treated as an isolated incident, and an investigation has been launched.

“Two males are currently in police custody. More information will be issued when available.”
