Two people have been arrested after a man was stabbed in The Burges in Coventry City Centre in the early hours of this morning.

The victim, aged 40, was taken to hospital but later discharged to recover at home.

West Midlands Police said his injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.

It came hours after another violent city centre incident where another man was taken to hospital after being stabbed in New Union Street.

Police said the incidents are not related and there is no threat to the wider public.

Officers are carrying out patrols to reassure the community.

CCTV is being reviewed as investigations continue into the incident on The Burges, which happened at around 1am today, Friday, February 26.

Two people – a woman aged 20 and a man aged 21 – have been arrested on suspicion of assault and will be questioned in due course.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said earlier today that the incident happened outside the Philip Larkin pub.

A man was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries.
