A teenage girl suffered a 'traumatic spinal cord injury' when she hit by part of the wing mirror on a passing lorry on a quiet Warwickshire Road.

An inquest heard Holly Chevassut was 14-years-old when she was struck by part of a recovery truck in the village of Harbury on October 31, 2018.

She suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital, where she sadly died two days later.

An inquest recorded Holly died of a spinal cord injury, caused by the impact of the collision with a coroner raising concerns over the design of the truck's wing mirror.

On the day of the incident, at around 5.30pm, Holly was walking down Plough Lane, which is a narrow road with no footpaths.

It was dark at this time and as the truck, owned by GRS Recovery, drove past her, Holly was hit by kit designed to protect the wing mirror.

A coroner's report has been published highlighting concerns that following this incident, changes needed to be made to the vehicles to to prevent a repeat incident.

GRS Recovery responded, saying the wing mirror protectors have now been removed from their vehicles and the overall position of the wing mirrors have been altered.
