Marks and Spencer has said it is to close a store in Warwickshire due to falling sales and profits.

The store had been holding a consultation about closing its Nuneaton shop, which employs 50 staff.

In a statement, a spokesman said the shop would remain open until in January and talks with staff were still taking place.

Nuneaton town centre manager Alan Ottey said there were still plenty of businesses prepared to move there.

Mr Ottey said T J Hughes, a discount department store, was opening in the town in October and Italian coffee bar Caffe Nero was opening on Sunday.

Is there a T.J. Hughes in Nuneaton because I'd rather have one of those than M&S any time?
