A family has been fined for breaching lockdown restrictions after telling police they were on a Pokemon hunt.

The fans of the online game, where players to use their phones to capture, battle, and train virtual beasts, had travelled from Bedworth to Kenilworth on Monday evening (January 12) to play the game.

Police described it as "not essential" and dished out a £200 fine for the incident.

A tweet posted by @KenilworthCops said: "Travelling from Bedworth to Kenilworth in the late evening to 'Pokemon Hunt' is not essential.

"We will enforce blatant breaches of the lockdown and this is what happened this evening. A £200 fine has been issued. Please #StayHome."

During the first lockdown in 2020, police spoke to another family who were hunting Pokemon in a park in Bedworth.

The family, who had two children with them, were spoken to by officers in April 2020.
