An armed robber threatened shop staff with what police believe was a small firearm before escaping in a taxi.

The raider targeted a shop in the Abbey Gate Shopping Precinct yesterday (January 6), threatening staff and escaping with cash.

Wearing a mask, hat and high-vis jacket, Warwickshire Police hope he can be identified from a CCTV image from the story.

The suspect is described as a white man of medium build and height.

He was last seen heading in the direction of Cedar Road.

Sergeant Edd Murray from Warwickshire Police said: “We appreciate this isn’t the greatest photo but it is the best we have at the moment and we hope someone may be able to help or someone may have seen someone matching the description of the suspect acting suspiciously in the area before the incident.

“Enquiries are ongoing and if we get better CCTV images we will consider releasing these.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 154 of 6 January 2021. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
