Armed police called to disturbance in Leamington

A man has been arrested after armed police were called to a disturbance in Leamington.

Officers were called to Windmill Road at 11.15 this morning (January 7).

The road was cordoned off and specialist firearms officers were deployed to the scene as a precaution.

A 52-year-old man was arrested in connection with a Section 4a Public Order offence.

He remains in police custody this afternoon.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: "Police were called at around 11.15am this morning (Thursday, 7 January) to a report of a disturbance at an address on Windmill Road in Leamington.

"As a precaution, specialist firearms officers were deployed to the address and a 52-year-old man was arrested in connection with a Section 4a Public Order offence.

"He remains in police custody at this time.

"Officers are no longer at the scene and the police cordon has been removed."

Seems rather overreacting to send an armed response to a 'disturbance'.

Either it was rather more than a 'disturbance' or the police are starting to harden up their response strategies? Personally speaking, police with guns terrify the life out of me.
