The Birmingham men, from West Heath and Bartley Green were subsequently arrested by West Mercia Police in Bromsgrove.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We’ve charged three men after a pensioner was knocked unconscious following a robbery in Coventry.

“A man in his eighties suffered head injuries after being knocked to the floor in Cromwell Lane at around 12.45pm on Monday (December 21). An ornament was taken as his attackers fled in a car.

I'm guessing they were drunken revellers who thought it would be good fun to rob an old man of something which was of no value to them?

It's the reason I avoid going anywhere on Xmas Eve or New Year's Eve.
