It was discovered just outside of BulkingtonThe body of a dead horse has been discovered in a Warwickshire field, leaving locals "stumped."
Local residents say the body, which is in a field on the outskirts of the village of Bulkington, has been there for a few days, and possibly even a week.
The body sits in a field just past the railway bridge on Coventry Road, a main route between Coventry and Nuneaton and Bedworth.
CoventryLive visited the scene on the afternoon of November 24 where the deceased horse could be seen on the right side of the field.
The black and white horse, which locals believe to be a cob, lay inside the field, which is private land.
It could be seen lying on its side in front of a shed and discarded horse trap, and a live horse could be seen grazing in the same field, some distance from the body.
Speaking to CoventryLive, Bulkington Councillor Richard Smith said: "It's a shame. It is the land owners' responsibility to deal with it, but we are unsure of who own the plot of land."
Cllr Smith had been to visit the scene himself, and said he was "stumped with it".
Referring to the nature of the situation, he added: "I've not heard of it before."
