A murder investigation has been launched after a 74-year-old man's death following a serious assault in Coventry.

The elderly man was found in a critical condition at a property in Milverton Road, Wood End, yesterday evening (November 26).

He was rushed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, with paramedics giving advanced life support on route.

But he was later sadly pronounced dead.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 5pm.

Police officers have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances that led to the elderly man’s death.

Detective Inspector Wes Martin from the Force CID team, said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family who are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time.

“I would urge anyone who was in the Milverton Road area at around 4.45pm yesterday afternoon who might have seen something to get in touch."
