A van used to deliver food parcels and free school meals to those who need them most in Coventry has been stolen.

The white Peugeot Boxer van, which belongs to Feeding Coventry, was taken from outside the home of the company's operations manager in Hollyfast Road, Coundon, in the early hours of Monday morning (November 23).

The theft has come at the "worst time" for Feeding Coventry as they try to help the most needy through the winter months and the current coronavirus restrictions.

Helen Needham, Feeding Coventry's operations manager, said: "At 1.30am on Monday I heard something going on outside and went to the window and saw two people stealing the van.

"I told police straight away and they tried to find it, but couldn't.

"It's a really difficult time of year as we are gearing up for Christmas and a lot of people have been furloughed again, so we are busy trying to meet demand.

"We just want the van to be returned as we are trying to help people more than ever - it couldn't have come at a worse time. We just want the van back."
