This is the moment two thieves jump out of a van and steal two 6ft trees decorated for Christmas from outside the front door of a city home.

The brazen theft was caught on the victim's CCTV and shows two men pull up in the van outside the home in Ash Green with one opening the back doors to the vehicle.

They then run towards the camera and are momentarily out of shot before reappearing with the trees - lights still twinkling - and rushing back to the van.

The trees are then put in to the back of the van, before the culprits made off.

The theft happened in a street off Wheelwright Lane shortly after 9pm on Saturday (November 21).

The victim, who wished to remain anonymous, told CoventryLive: "I am really upset that I have witnessed through my CCTV two thieves who stole two of my 6ft Spiral Buxus trees with lights and cream plant pots around them outside my front door.

"My security light came on as they headed towards my front door and ran away with the two stolen spiral trees.

"The whole event took place in approximately 30 seconds. I didn't even have enough time to even open the door to confront the situation and it appears to have been a planned targeted theft."

The victim believes the thieves arrived and left in a dark grey VW Caddy van.

They added: "I put lights around the trees recently to make the surroundings cheerful and towards the run-up to Christmas for the neighbourhood.

"I am still in shock and devastated how someone could go to such low depths right outside my front door in full glare of the CCTV and security lights."

They will learn like the rest of us to cement the pots to the ground.
