Anger is growing in a community which has been left for more than 100 days without street lights.

The residents living on Park View Close in Exhall were plunged into darkness on August 2 after an arson attack on a street light burned the underground electricity cable supplying the whole street.

More than four months later, the lights remain unfixed and anger is growing.

Residents say they reported the issue to Warwickshire County Council within days - but no action was taken.

Steve Young, chairman of Exhall resident's association, claimed he was told 60 days later that the council wasn't even aware the lights were out and had only received a report of one defective lamp.

The group then got local councillors involved, and Steve said they were told there were issues with the electricity company replacing the lights, but the council was on the case.

"So far there has been one elderly gentleman who fell when tripping over a kerb after he parked his car, luckily he didn't suffer serious injury, just bruising," he said.

"We feel that the excuse given by the council is really just an attempt to pass the blame to the contractor, as we know that numerous residents contacted them and stated that the whole street was in darkness."

A Warwickshire County Council spokesperson said work was due to start tomorrow.
