Coventry's historic Cathedral Ruins will be transformed into a ice-skating rink for Christmas.

It is the first time the iconic landmark will be turned into a winter wonderland - and will provide spectacular views for the skaters.

Coventry Glides wiill run from November 27 to January 3. It will be open daily (excluding Christmas Day), with socially-distanced skating sessions held from morning to evening.

The ice-skating rink is the first event to be announced as part of Coventry City of Culture Trust’s winter programme for 2020.

A number of Covid safety measures will be put in place to ensure guests can stay safe and still have fun, including timed slots for skaters, reduced skater capacity, mandatory facemasks for all skaters – except for those who are exempt – and cleaning in between each skating session. You can see the full list of safety measures at the end of this article.

Tickets will be priced from £5 and will go on sale on Friday, November 13.

Tickets will be available to purchase from coventry2021.co.uk or by calling 0344 581 4950.

I prefer Morrisons' car park myself. I won a bronze medal last winter for my dynamic display of balance with four carrier bags full of shopping.
