Two men were arrested after being found with stab injuries in Coventry on Friday night (October 23).

Officers found the two men with stab wounds in Woodway Lane, in Woodway Park, after being called to the street at around 6.37pm.

Both men were arrested on suspicion of assault as police try to establish how they came to receive the injuries.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 6.37pm to Woodway Park and then shortly before 7pm to nearby Ansty Road where one man was treated on scene before he was taken to hospital.

His injuries were serious but not thought to be life-threatening.

West Midlands Police say they want to speak with anyone who has information.

A spokesman said: "We are investigating after two men were found with stab injuries on Woodway Lane, Coventry at 6pm on Friday (23 October).

"They were both arrested on suspicion of assault. Investigations are ongoing to establish how they both came to receive these injuries.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at just before 7pm on Friday evening to reports of a man who had been stabbed.

"An ambulance, a paramedic officer and The Air Ambulance Service Critical Care Car were sent to the scene.

"A second ambulance came across the incident which was outside the Red Lion Pub on Ansty Road in Coventry and stopped to assist. One man was treated for serious but not believed life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

"The doctor from the Critical Care Car travelled with the ambulance crew."
