A woman has been left with a broken cheekbone after being struck with a glass during an attack inside a Coventry pub.

Police are investigating the early hours assault, which took place inside The Oak Inn pub on Gosford Street.

The incident is thought to have taken place just after 1am on Friday, September 11.

It is thought that the victim - a 19-year-old woman, was sat with friends when another woman approached the group.

A row is thought to have broken out before the victim was struck with a glass, leaving her with a fractured cheekbone and concussion.

West Midlands Police have this week released a CCTV still of a woman that they wish to speak with in connection with the incident.

An appeal, posted to the Coventry Police social media channels reads: "Do you recognise this woman?

"We want to speak to her after a 19-year-old woman was hit in the face with a glass at a pub in Gosford Street, Coventry just after 1am on Friday 11 September.

"If you know who the woman in the image is, please get in contact with us, quoting crime number 20CV/224394G/20, via Live Chat at http://www.west-midlands.police.uk, 8am to midnight, or call 101 anytime. Or to tell us what you know, not who you are, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
