The Coventry Covid advisors launched today (September 24), with the marshals out to speak to residents and businesses on all areas related to COVID-19.

Coventry Council says the team will be speaking with people in communities that have seen sudden rises in coronavirus cases – reassuring those who need some help in keeping to Government guidelines.

They will be able to advise on social distancing, face masks and protection, visiting family, and how to find support.

Initially, the team will be made up of 17 council employees who have volunteered to be redeployed from their normal role, plus some staff working additional hours. All staff are undergoing specialist training.

Council Leader Coun George Duggins, said: “I am so pleased to see the Community COVID Advisors out on our city’s streets. It is a pioneering initiative and one which we think will make a big difference to people and businesses in our communities.

“As a council, and as a city, we are doing all we can to combat the many challenges of COVID-19 and return to a more normal way of life for everyone. To do that, we need to work together and follow guidelines and keep ourselves, our loved ones and others safe.

“The advisors are there to help us do that – the team is there to help and reassure people and give them the guidance they need and I look forward to it having a big impact in our local communities.”

Dear God, just how much is this joke costing the local taxpayer?
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
