The arrest was made after the lorry hit railings during morning rush hourA lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after a crash in Bedworth this morning (Friday).
The dustbin lorry smashed in to railings next to a traffic light crossing in Nuneaton Road at around 8.45am and police, fire crews and an ambulance were all called to the scene.
Officers helped direct traffic while the driver was treated by medics from West Midlands Ambulance Service and then taken to George Eliot Hospital.
And Warwickshire Police has this afternoon revealed that the driver - a 45-year-old man from Solihull - was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
He has since been released under investigation.
A spokesman for the lorry company, Fortress, said: "We would like to thank the emergency services for the prompt response today and thankfully no-one was hurt.
"We will be carrying out a full investigation in to the accident and have no further comment at this time."
