Police appeal after head-on crash in Coventry leaves woman in critical condition
A woman has been left in a critical condition in hospital following a head-on collision in Coventry.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the “high impact” crash, during which a VW Golf was driven on the wrong side of the Foleshill Road yesterday (August 17).
A major response from emergency services ensued after the car, which had earlier failed to stop for Warwickshire Police officers, crashed into an Audi at 1.40pm.
The woman, who had been in the rear of the blue Golf, suffered serious internal injuries.
The 49-year-old is in hospital where her condition is described as life-threatening.
The 20-year-old male driver of the Golf was also transferred to hospital having suffered a fractured kneecap, while a 16-year-old male passenger has since been discharged from hospital.
West Midlands Police collision investigators will question the driver when he is fit to be interviewed, the force said tonight (August 18).
The Audi driver, a man aged 20, escaped with minor injuries.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes ,from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “If anyone saw the collision or the VW Golf being driven in the build-up to the crash then I’d urge them to get in touch."
