A yob who punched a female police officer in the face at Coventry Railway Station has been jailed.

The attack happened on the morning of Tuesday, August 4 and a few days later British Transport Police appealed for help to find the culprit - John Burnham.

He was eventually tracked down and arrested on Friday, August 7.

The 21-year-old was charged with assaulting an emergency worker and appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court the following day (August 8) where he admitted the attack, which left the officer with minor injuries.

Magistrates said it was a "deliberate attack on a public servant" and Burnham, of Trinity Road, Birmingham, was sent to prison for 28 days.
