The new store is due to open in November this year
Plans have been put forward for a new Aldi supermarket in Coventry.
The budget supermarket chain plans to create a new store in an existing unit on the Alvis Retail Park on Holyhead Road.
Coventry’s newest Aldi would be located primarily in the unit formerly occupied by Currys PC World, at the south eastern end of the retail park closest to the city centre.
However the neighbouring unit occupied by DFS would also be reduced in size to accommodate the new budget supermarket.
On its website Aldi says the new store is scheduled to open in November this year.
A transport statement regarding the new store has been submitted to Coventry City Council by Connect Consultants.
In November 2018 Currys PC World featuring Carphone Warehouse moved its Coventry operation from the Alvis Retail Park to a bigger home.
The retail outlet made move across the city to the Arena Park shopping centre on Classic Drive.
The new Currys PC World superstore is around twice the size of the old store on the Alvis site.
The Alvis Retail Park is home to B&Q, Harveys, Carpet Right, Sofology, DFS, a drive-thru McDonald’s, a Morrisons petrol filling station and a Morrisons supermarket.
The new Aldi would have a total ground floor area of 1,847 sq m and a mezzanine measuring 120 sq m.
"November"? We'll be dead by then!
